Five Fun Dog Facts

Our furry friends are as fascinating as they are steadfast.  Here are five interesting dog facts for all of you dog enthusiasts to enjoy:

1. A dog’s shoulder blades are not connected to the rest of the skeleton. This offers more flexibility for running.

2. The shape of a dog’s face proffers how long it will live. Dogs with sharp, pointed faces that look similar wolves will often have longer lives. Dogs with very flat faces, such as bulldogs, usually have shorter lives.

3. The Basenji is the only dog that doesn't bark.

4.  A dog can use as many as 18 muscles to tilt, rotate, or raise and lower his ear

5. Despite the general consensus, dogs do see in color, albeit they probably view colors comparable to a color-blind human.
