With Spring in full swing, the warmer weather makes all of us feel more playful! Toys seem like a perfect way to both treat your precious pooch and help eliminate extra energy, but with all of the different choices on the market today, it’s difficult to know what to buy. There is nothing more frustrating than buying toys your dog either tears to bits or turns his nose up at. The first step to both pleasing your pooch and rescuing your wallet from wasted purchases is to figure out what style of toys are right for your canine companion.
Balls and Flying Discs for Dogs are a great choice for pups who like to play catch. Flying discs are a good way to get your dog moving and make for an enjoyable interactive way to spend time with your pet. Rubber balls are simple to clean and are perfect for both tossing and chewing. An important safety tip to keep in mind: Always make sure that the ball you pink is not too tiny, or it could get stuck in your dog’s throat! Also, make sure that the ball is not too large as well or your dog won’t be able to pick it up.
Plush Dog Toys are great for cuddling, fetching, and carrying around. These soft toys keep the dog’s scent and usually contain squeakers for extra fun. When shopping for plush toys, it’s important to only choose toys made specifically for dogs. Generic stuffed toys can be filled with irritating fibers or Styrofoam pieces that can upset your dog’s stomach. Toys that are made for dogs don’t have this. Plush toys are often not a good option for dogs that play aggressively or tear up toys; dogs can easily tear these toys up if they try.
Rope and Tug Toys for Dogs provide abundant opportunities for fun. They come in a plethora of sizes and shapes and are excellent for fetching, chewing, teething, and tug of war games. Some dogs can tear these toys up with aggressive chewing, so if you have a rough chewer it’s important to keep an eye on your dog so that they don’t ingest the fibers.
Rubber, Latex, and Vinyl Toys for Dogs are a superb choice for chewers. These toys are wonderful for exercising dog’s mouths and jaws. These are good for non-interactive and can keep dogs occupied for hours. If your dog is an aggressive chewer, you’ll want to both supervise him and make sure that you choose a toy made of heavy duty rubber that will stand up to a lot of abuse.
Interactive Dog Toys keep smart dogs occupied. These entertaining toys dispense treats in a random pattern or when a dog makes a certain set of movements with the toy. They are terrific for keeping your dog mentally fit, in addition to physically. You might need to work with your dog to help them learn how to use these toys but the extra stimulation for your dog is worth the time invested!
